Greetings!
As I begin this course and think about he first prompt, I realize that wine has always been something I've grown up around. From as long as I remember my parents would enjoy wine with meals, special occasions, holidays, etc. and are avid consumers. We have always made trips out to wineries all across the state of Virginia to as far as Montepulciano in Italy. Sadly Until recently I wasn't old enough fro consumption. With this being said I have been able to trip snippets and tastes and never cared for it much as I find myself now.
Altho9ugh both my parents and other family/friends are avid wine consumers I find myself not knowing as much as I thought I would. I gravitate towards cheeper white wines because I dont appreciate the taste of reds very much. Perhaps this is simply due to my lack of knowledge and experience, leaving me wanting to take this class to understand what goes into wine production all the way down to the individual consumer level.
I hope to learn from this course what makes wines so unique (or their terroirs I guess...) that has such a chokehold on our society and culture. I want to learn perhaps what wines I enjoy most compared to others, and lastly of wine has a significant relationship with food. I never want to sit at a table again and get barked at for ordering the wrong wine with the wrong dish!
